Armed whiny crybabies "took over" Michigan’s state capitol

Look at the "big tough guys." They would look silly without their guns.

Gun-toting protesters against Michigan's coronavirus lockdown have rallied in the state capitol building.

Hundreds of demonstrators, a few of them armed, gathered in Lansing and many did not wear masks or socially distance.

Police checked their temperatures before some were allowed into the capitol, where lawmakers were debating.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, extended her stay-at-home mandate earlier this month until 15 May.

Michigan has been hard hit by the coronavirus, with 3,788 deaths.

More than 41,000 infections have been recorded across the Midwestern state, mostly in the Detroit metro area.

Thursday's protest, dubbed the "American Patriot Rally", was organised by Michigan United for Liberty. It called for state businesses to reopen on 1 May in violation of state orders.

It is legal to bear firearms inside the statehouse, and several demonstrators were openly carrying guns in the Senate gallery.

But some armed protesters reportedly tried to enter the floor of the chamber, and were blocked by state police and sergeants-at-arms.

One state senator said several of her colleagues wore bulletproof vests.

Footage of protesters outside the building showed them chanting "Let us in!", "Let us work" and "This is the people's house, you cannot lock us out".

"The virus is here," one demonstrator, Joni George, told the Associated Press. "It's going to be here... It's time to let people go back to work. That's all there is to it."

The rally is believed to have been the largest of its type since one on 15 April when Michigan protesters sat in their cars in order to create traffic around the statehouse.

President Donald Trump threw his support behind demonstrators at the time, tweeting "LIBERATE MICHIGAN". Some critics said his tweets were an attempt to foment insurrection.

On Thursday, the Republican-controlled legislature refused Governor Whitmer's request to extend her emergency orders.

They also cleared the way for her to be sued over her handling of the pandemic. She hit back that she does not need legislative authorisation for the extension.

On Wednesday, the governor accused Republicans of treating the virus like a "political problem", rather than "a public health crisis".

Many US states - including Georgia, Oklahoma and South Carolina - have taken steps to loosen virus mitigation restrictions.

On Wednesday, a Michigan court ruled that the governor's lockdown orders were not unconstitutional, as five state residents had claimed in a lawsuit against the governor.

"Although the Court is painfully aware of the difficulties of living under the restrictions of these executive orders, those difficulties are temporary, while to those who contract the virus and cannot recover (and to their family members and friends), it is all too permanent," Michigan Court of Claims Judge Christopher M Murray wrote in a ruling.

Wishin is ranting again

How is this news? It's not. The Disqus commenter known as "Wishin" has been stalking and harassing me for years. Now he's threatened to get my blog removed by Google. For what? Is fluxus art offensive? Is birdwatching, DIY projects, gardening, news topics about current events offensive? Are the topics I post about damnable to have my blog removed? I have broken no rules or no Google/Blogger TOS rules.
Wishin is a control freak and if someone doesn't submit to his demands he threatens them. This is exactly what is happening to me right now.

This commenter is a mod at Paul's blog and edited what I posted.

I tried to edit it to show what I originally posted and I can't because wishin edited it.

This is an example of a control freak who can't handle having the truth posted to him. He has to control the narrative even if he is wrong. Wishin is a liar and a manipulative abusive control freak. My advice is to never post anywhere he is a mod at or he can edit your posts and try to threaten you with it. He is an abusive person who stalks, harasses, and doxes women that rejected him. He can't handle rejection and stalks and harasses women who don't want anything to do with him and have specifically told him to stop harassing them.

Wishin is threatening to have my blog removed for no reason. I haven't violated the Blogger TOS. He is a sociopath who thinks he can shut me up by threatening me.

Thank you essential workers!

During the Covid-19 pandemic, there are many heroes. We know about the heroic work of doctors, nurses, and medical staff. They are working countless hours to save Covid-19 patients.

I would like to focus on essential workers who are keeping grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores open and running during the pandemic.

"Essential workers are keeping the American economy humming, yet at great risk to themselves and their families."

Don't drink bleach

This has to be one of the funniest things in presidential history.

“Fact check: Trump dangerously suggests sunlight and ingesting disinfectants could help cure coronavirus”

Washington (CNN)On Thursday, President Donald Trump added to his list of dubious or inaccurate coronavirus-related medical claims, dangerously suggesting at a White House briefing that ingesting disinfectant could possibly be used to treat people who have the virus. https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/23/politics/fact-check-coronavirus-briefing-april-23/index.html

Maybe Trump was thinking about this song by The Dead Milkmen, "Bleach Boys."

Liberate Minnesota from Trump

I've said it before, Trump is a bully. Today he tweeted "Liberate Minnesota." Trump is trying to bully Minnesotans. I won't stand for my state being bullied by Trump.

I had one errand to do today and on my way back home I saw the biggest cacophony of morons protesting Governor Walz's stay at home order. I decided to check out the protest. The orange moron in power called for this protest. He thinks he can bully the governor into reopening the state before it's safe. Guess what, the average Minnesotan is pretty damn smart and is in support of the stay at home order. The majority of Minnesotans know the stay at home order is to keep us safe.

Unicorn Riot (https://unicornriot.ninja/) covered the protest. Please watch it for yourself. If the protest continues this weekend, I am ready to counter-protest this idiocy.

Finding a bright spot in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic

“The bright spots that can be extremely powerful and uplifting throughout the day” - Dr. Erik Bluttinger

The Washington Post featured emergency room doctor, Erik Bluttinger from Mount Sinai Hospital Queens, NY. He talked about his experience as an ER doctor. He talked about finding the bright spots in his day in the ER. “The bright spots that can be extremely powerful and uplifting throughout the day” Whenever a Covid-19 positive patient is discharged Mount Sinai Hospital plays, “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles on the loudspeaker.

In the midst of suffering and pain of the pandemic, I hope we can find a ray of hope and a bright spot. Some momentary joy as a release of stress and pain.

"Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles
Here's hoping for a better future for all!

Cheers everyone, stay safe and healthy as possible!

Recipes ONLY …..thank you KIZMET

This is a result of the fluxus community skillshare. Thank you to KIZMET and everyone who posted recipes to get us through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Recipies that are thoughtfully crafted to meet the need of using canned and shelf-stable food. Please share your favorite recipes.

From KIZMET, a recipe for tofu or tempeh.

Ok a quicky then where you can use some of the tempeh or tofu.
Marinate chunks of your tempeh or tofu ( assuming it's hard and not silken) in a couple of tablespoons of soy sauce and equal quantity of honey. As tofu and tempeh are porous it's a quick marinate of 15 mins or so. You can add a bit of garlic if you want to. Your palate.
As an aside, chiffonade a bit of the greens from the kale you mentioned. ( chiffonade is like, rolling up the leaves and chopping them. they will look like short green ribbons)
Prep your rice noodles as you usually would and set aside.
Heat up your pan and when hot plunge your soy protein into the hot pan to sear it off in a teaspoon of oil you have on hand. (hold back the rest of the marinade as that can be the coating sauce for the dish)
Turn the chunks in the pan until they are nicely coloured and then add the prepared noodles. Add the prepared Kale and also toss through until the kale starts to wilt ( that part usually takes 30 seconds). Finally, add the marinade "juices" and toss through until everything is coated. ( another 30 odd seconds)
Serve up your dinner quick stix!! :)
This simple stir fry( just skip the adding noodles process) can also be served over/with rice.
Of course, salt and pepper to your own palate.

From KIZMET, A simple bread recipe

2cups wholewheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
5 teaspoons of butter (MUST BE CHILLED)
3/4 up of milk.
Mix the flour with the salt in a large bowl. Add the butter and rub it into the flour with the tips of your fingers, until it resembles fine crumbs.
Stir in the milk with a round blade knife (butter knife) to make a soft, but not sticky dough.
Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and shape into a soft, smooth ball.
Set the ball of dough onto a tray or baking sheet and flatten gently to make a round about 6.5 inches across.
Cut a deep cross in the dough and brush lightly with milk.
Bake at 370F for 30 minutes until golden.
You can eat it warm or at room temperature.
Also if you wanted to make it into single portions, you could make it into 3-4 individual rolls. Just reduce the cooking time by about 8 minutes. They can be frozen individually in cling film or sealed bags, and defrosted as you need them.
---- The above is what's known as a DAMPER. It's an Aussie style camp bread. BTW if you wanted to add additional flavour to it, you could always add some of the basil you have and some garlic. It's actually pretty nice on its own and if you have some peanut butter and a "jelly" (preserve) on hand, could be a nice quick PB&J lunchy sandwich.

Finally, a working sewing machine .... DIY masks

Inspired by all of the mask makers out there, I dusted off my old sewing machine. Literally, it had dust on it. It was like trying to start an old car that has been in the garage for years. It sputtered and complained.

My old sewing machine and I have been together for a long time, decades. It's time for my old machine to go under the screwdriver and get a rebuild. While that's happening, I bought a "new" sewing machine. I set it up and it was like driving a Jaguar as opposed to a go-cart.

Now that the new machine is set up, I'm ready to sew.

First on the list is making masks. If my sewing is up to par, I hope I can make hundreds of them to donate.

If you are sewing masks please share your knowledge.

Living in a pandemic: DIY hand sanitizer

I've studied lots of hand sanitizer recipes and in my humble opinion, this is the best. PLUS senior writer for “Live Science” Mindy Weisberger does the math for us. Click here for more info.

Hand sanitizer sold out? Here's how to make your own. Spoiler: Must contain at least 60% alcohol to be effective!

I'm trying to find a DIY recipe for an effective spray hand sanitizer. If you have a suggestion, please post it.

Take care, stay safe and healthy, and please stay at home.

Jared Kushner, With No Government Background, Scolds States for Requesting Supplies From National Equipment Stockpile

From Common Dreams "Jared Kushner, With No Government Background, Scolds States for Requesting Supplies From National Equipment Stockpile: "Dilettantism raised to the level of sociopathy." by Julia Conley, staff writer, https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/04/03/jared-kushner-no-government-background-scolds-states-requesting-supplies-national

Progressives expressed shock at the Trump administration's latest indication that it intends to provide little assistance to states where thousands of people have contracted the coronavirus, after Jared Kushner, senior advisor and son-in-law to President Donald Trump, made his first appearance as a key member of the White House coronavirus task force Thursday evening—and revealed he had little knowledge of how the federal government works.

Coronavirus is worse than the flu, much worse

When Covid-19 was first detected people thought it was like the seasonal flu. The Covid-19 virus is a novel virus which means humans have no immunity to it. This is the first time humans have come in contact with the Covid-19 virus. The flu has been around for hundreds of years and people have built up an immunity to it and there are treatments and vaccines.

This video explains how infectious Covid-19 is and why it's different from the seasonal flu. From the video, after ten rounds one person with the flu will infect 56 people. When the same model was used with Covid-19 after 10 rounds 2047 people were infected from one person.

Please take this seriously and shelter in place. If you think you have Covid-19 please quarantine yourself for 14 days
