I want to address rumors that I am downvoting or mass downvoting commenters on Disqus. This is completely FALSE.
Why in the hell would I waste my time following people I don't like on Disqus and spend my precious time downvoting them? It makes no sense and I'm not downvoting anyone. To the conspiracy theory flakes out there spreading rumors saying I am wasting my time downvoting, fuck off. I get downvoted all of the damn time and I have come to expect it. I would really like it if Disqus would identify who is downvoting comments. That way the anonymity of the mass downvoters might stop.
Thanks, I needed to vent about this topic.

Snowmageddon is coming and the cats are freaking out
I thought I was prepared for winter but I wasn't expecting to have to deal with snow this early in the year. Yuck! As I'm posting this we are awaiting a foot of snow tomorrow. It's like the world is coming to an end. Stores are filled with shoppers stocking up if they can't get out of the snow tomorrow. Minnesotans are a hardy bunch when it comes to snow but this upcoming storm is predicted to be bad.
When they forecast thundersnow, you know it's bad. If you don't know what thundersnow is, "Thundersnow, also known as a winter thunderstorm or a thundersnowstorm, is an unusual[1][2] kind of thunderstorm with snow falling as the primary precipitation instead of rain. It typically falls in regions of strong upward motion within the cold sector of an extratropical cyclone. Thermodynamically, it is not different from any other type of thunderstorm, but the top of the cumulonimbus cloud is usually quite low. In addition to snow, graupel or hail may fall as well."
Picture from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thundersnow
Storms are threatening much of the U.S.
Two winter storms were expected to bring heavy snow, wind and rain to much of the country this week, officials said. (National Weather Service)
This could be a bad one folks. Stay safe.

Is there a need for an open thread?
Diggy suggested having a never-ending open music thread. I'm not a stickler for anyone staying on topic and I have issues with staying "on topic" myself.
Speaking of thread, this is beautiful.

Hero dog saves kittens
From the dodo: "Stray Dog Found Curled Up In Snow Keeping Orphaned Kittens Warm" posted at https://www.thedodo.com/close-to-home/stray-dog-found-curled-up-in-snow-keeping-orphaned-kittens-warm
"There, curled up on a snowy roadside, was a shivering stray dog. But she wasn't alone."
"Though the dog could have found a safer place to pass the night, she wasn't just thinking of herself.
A closer look revealed the kind pup had wrapped herself around five orphaned kittens, whom she was cuddling to keep warm in the biting temperatures.
The Good Samaritan, in turn, saved them all from the freezing night by taking them to the Pet and Wildlife Rescue shelter. But by then, an incredible bond between the dog and kittens had already been formed."
For rescue staff, learning the circumstances of this case made one thing clear: the pup had saved the kittens' lives.

Free Quilty -- Quilty will not be contained
"A rogue cat who ‘will not be contained’ keeps trying to free his shelter comrades" https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/11/13/quilty-houston-shelter-cat-wins-viral-fame-helping-fellow-felines-escape/
From the article, The unruly feline has become famous in recent weeks for sowing chaos at the Houston animal shelter where he broke out of his confines several times a day, often setting his cat comrades free in the process. Somehow capable of prying open heavy doors despite his diminutive stature and lack of opposable thumbs, he exasperated his handlers with his crafty ways.
“Quilty will not be contained,” Friends for Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization wrote on Facebook last month, posting photos of a decidedly guilty-looking Quilty meowing from his cat jail. “And he has no shame.”
But as it turns out, people love meddlesome cats who refuse to apologize for their devious behavior. The shelter’s frequent updates about Quilty’s latest crimes have turned him into an Internet celebrity with nearly 30,000 Instagram followers, and, on Tuesday night, he got a special shout-out on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.” As of Wednesday morning, Friends for Life’s original Facebook post had been shared more than 16,000 times. Meanwhile, Quilty has found what the shelter hopes will be a permanent home, and appears to have put his life of crime aside in favor of placidly napping with his new owner.

Socks real or imagined
No, I don't use sock accounts. I have been falsely accused over and over of using sock accounts. I don't have the time or energy to make one or multiple sock accounts. If you are asking, what is a sock account or sock puppet account it's "A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception. The term, a reference to the manipulation of a simple hand puppet made from a sock, originally referred to a false identity assumed by a member of an Internet community who spoke to, or about, themselves while pretending to be another person.[1]"
There is a commenter who has been stalking and harssing me for years who made the claim I have 20 or so sock accounts. This is blatantly false.
“eri aka scourge of Disqus” is the only account I use. I don't use socks but I like good quality wool socks, like Smartwool socks. This isn't a plug for Smartwool and I am not getting paid by them to promote their socks.
Some people are known for their socks, like Studs Terkel and his signature red socks.
What's your take on socks? Do you use sock accounts? Do you know of annoying harassing sock accounts? Do you like wool socks in the winter? Do you wear socks at all? Do you have a favorite or signature sock style?

Color
I've been binge-watching "Project Runway" and got the inspiration for this blog post about color. Do you have a favorite color? Do you like to dress in bright colors or more subdued colors, or black and white? I have a great appreciation for color and using lots of colors in my wardrobe. As a teen, I was more goth and dressed mostly in black. When I got older I started wearing more colors that flattered me. I love the color orange and wear lots of orange colors. People tell me it looks good on me and I always feel good wearing it.

Boohoo, Coccyx keeps whining
Dude, you need to layoff the uppers or whatever you’re taking. You’re obsessed with me and you hang on every word I post. What would you do if I didn’t post on Disqus? Who would you attack?
You whine that I post music. Boohoo, block me.
You don’t like what I grow in my garden, block me.
You whine so much it’s pathetic.
Just for you coccyx, I’m posting my favorite songs, music, and bands.
Don’t like it, then block me.
I never doxed or harassed you or anyone who posts at your blog, “As The Disq Turns.” It’s fine of funny that you have no original ideas.
You ripped off the name of your blog from a commenter named lili. She posted the idea and you stole it. Kind of like the entire pathetic theme of your blog, you live off of others. You’re like a pathetic Disqus/Wix vampire. You live off of fucking with others. You have no originality no original ideas. You have nothing. You’re a pathetic coward living off of those you try to make fun of.
Try something original instead of stealing other people’s ideas. Try posting something other than harassing Disqus commenters you don’t like. Try posting an original thought instead of a pathetic insult post about a commenter you don’t like.
A post by coccyx.

A post by coccyx.
Coccyx, are you projecting? I have posted about my garden. That wasn't a post about sex or wanting "dick." Why are you reading into something that isn't there?
Coccyx, do you garden? I enjoy growing vegetables and it has nothing to do with sex or getting laid. I don't garden to get laid, I grow veggies to eat them and to eat fresh food from my garden. Do you have a problem with that?
Also, I grow vegetables that are not available at the co-op or farmers markets. I grow Japanese cucumbers because and Northern Lights Tomatoes because they are not available anywhere.
To all of the commenters at ATDT and the blog owner, I hope you will enjoy my plethora of songs I will be posting.
Enjoy!
Posting my inspiration for this, the incredible independent and community stations in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN.
This is my very strange cat in the snow.

I made a mistake. Coccyx didn’t steal the name of her blog from lili, she stole the idea. I don’t get along with lili and I’m not taking her side on anything. Years ago, before “As the Disqus Turns” was a channel or blog, a commenter named lili posted that Disqus is like a soap opera, like “As The World Turns” kind of soap opera. Because coccyx is a stalker she saw that post.

Go ahead, report my blog aka attention whore edition
Coccyx has told her commenters to report my blog. For what reason? I haven’t engaged in targeted harassment or doxing like coccyx has done at her blog.
What is coccyx going to report me for, because she doesn’t like me? I’m sure Blogger will see that as a valid reason.
Meanwhile, if you have been targeted or doxed by coccyx at her blog you can report her at https://support.wix.com/en/article/reporting-abusive-content-9640277
Coccyx has called me an attention whore repeatedly which is hilarious because she posts about me non-stop. If she didn't post lies and disparaging things about me, what would she post about? Her "shtick" is posting nasty lies about people to generate more clicks at her pathetic blog.

If I knew who "Your Coccyx" and "CaliCheeseSucks" were in real life I would send you a Cease and Desist letter. I am officially going on record and telling you to stop harassing me online.
Your ongoing targeted harassment is not welcome and I want it to stop immediately.
I will send a copy of this post to Disqus, Wix, and Tee Public.
I will tag both of you as a legal notice to stop harassing me.

Today in history: 44 years ago the Edmund Fitzgerald sank
In Minnesota, the legend of the Edmund Fitzgerald is deeply ingrained in our shared history. I've visited Lake Superior and the Lake Superior Marine Museum countless times as a child and as an adult. As a child, I was enamoured with the giant lake and my brain couldn't comprehend how large the lake is. As an adult, I am still enamoured with the lake and the legend of the "Fitz."
Today marks the 44th anniversary of the demise of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Many people know the song by Gordon Lightfoot that he penned about the Edmund Fitzgerald.
From MPR news.....
"There have been many other shipwrecks on Lake Superior over the years. Many other mammoth November storms. Many other lives lost.
But thanks in large part to singer Gordon Lightfoot, one shipwreck stands above the rest in the Great Lakes' collective memory: the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Sunday, Nov. 10, marks the 44th anniversary of the sinking of the Fitzgerald in a November gale on eastern Lake Superior with the loss of all 29 men aboard — a tragedy memorialized by Lightfoot in the now-iconic song he released the following year."
Today a ceremony will honor the “Fitz.” https://www.mprnews.org/story/2019/11/10/edmund-fitzgerald-44th-anniversary-shipwreck-lake-superior

Ice eggs in Finland
I saw this story posted at W3P, https://wwwp-lives.blogspot.com/2019/11/ice-eggs-cover-finland-beach-in-rare.html. The story was posted at the BBC, 'Ice eggs' cover Finland beach in rare weather event.
"Experts say it is caused by a rare process in which small pieces of ice are rolled over by wind and water."

Binge watching Dickinson
It’s cold and dark outside, which means more time to binge-watch shows. Well not really, but it’s an excuse to watch “Dickinson.” I’m not here to sell Apple TV and I’m not really all that crazy about it at this point. However, the music soundtrack for Dickinson is fabulously fantastic. I might be saying this too early in the season, but I think the trailer may be better than the show. I’ve only watched episodes 1-4 so far.

Big cat little cat
Anyone who has a cat knows how they are like their big cat cousins.
Some of their similarities are:
Sleep –Both wild and domestic cats spend between 16 to 20 hours a day sleeping.
Smell – Wild and domesticated cats have great senses of smell and both will use their open mouths to smell better.
Food – Both wild and domestic cats are obligatory carnivores, which means they rely, primarily, on a meat diet, being much better able to digest meat proteins over plant material.
Self-grooming – Wild and domesticated cats both groom themselves a lot, anywhere from 30 to 50 percent of their waking hours.
Stalking – All cats, big and small, will stalk their prey and generally confine their hunting to dusk, nighttime, and dawn.
Playing – Cats of all shapes and sizes enjoy a good session of laser pointer chase, unraveling a role of string or toilet paper, and even playing in boxes.
Catnip – Although mostly due to the genetics of certain family lines, half of both wild and domesticated cat populations will react strongly to and enjoy catnip.
Vocalizing – Much like the meowing and chirping you hear from your cat, big cats have their own ways of “talking” to one another that can sound similar. From https://www.lonetreevet.com/blog/wild-and-domestic-cats/
